To enable Updata to maintain the quality of their service it will be necessary, from time-to-time, to replace or repair equipment within the core network which will mean service downtime for some or all schools. Clearly we will ask them to plan any such maintenance work for the least disruptive times.
The design of the HICS network means that sometimes work may be necessary at a particular exchange resulting in disruption only to those schools that are connected through that exchange.
Whenever potentially disruptive maintenance becomes necessary we will give you as much notice as possible but of course the period of notice really depends on how much of an emergency the maintenance work is considered to be. We will usually notify affected schools through an email to the “admin” address and by email to all registered users. For the most disruptive maintenance we will place a post on the Home Page.
