Why do we filter access to web content?
HICS has a very diverse group of users. We have early years children through to Sixth Form students accessing the service from Hertfordshire schools. The HICS is also the Internet service supplied to children in Hertfordshire’s residential children’s homes and some children’s hospital wards. The many different teaching, caring and support staff at those sites also use the service. We need to ensure that all of these users have an appropriate, productive, enjoyable and, of paramount importance, a safe on-line experience.
Other pages on this site deal with:
- Our HICS central web filtering policies and how to use them
- The devolved IP level web filtering which enables schools to create and report on their own policies and to deploy them to particular IP addresses
- The devolved AD integrated web filtering which enables schools to create and report on their own policies and to deploy them to particular users.
- The transparent proxy service which is particularly useful for deploying guest and/or “bring your own device” wifi Internet access within your school
- Filtering of FTP access
